York Amateur & Seward Trophy

A CLEAN SWEEP FOR FULFORD

Damon Coulson is once again the York Union of Golf Clubs’ Amateur Champion

Coulson opened with a level 69 which was matched by Kirkbymoorside’s Ryan Diuga. They both took a 3 shot lead into the afternoon round as Alistair Smith (PH), Ryan Estabrooks (M&N), Jamie Miller (F), Harry Bramley (F) and Tom Kelly (F) shot a 3 over 72 in what seemed to be tough scoring conditions.

After a strong second 18 from George Robson of 68 it seemed that Coulson finally had someone who could push him down to the wire. The Junior Captain at Fulford had a putt on 18 for a 67 which just missed resulting in him missing out by 1.

Jamie Miller’s 69 also left him short by one as Coulson scooped the Amateur prize for the 2nd year running and for the 3rd time in his short golfing career.

A WEEK TO REMEMBER FOR HARRY BRAMLEY

Harry took his half term break as an opportunity to cut his handicap from 6 down to 4 before he even pegged it up in yesterdays Seward Trophy & Amateur Championship.

Harry gathered a fantastic 41 points at Pike Hills on Friday which followed on from his tremendous efforts in Tuesday’s Yorkshire Union Boys Amateur Championship at Malton & Norton.

His opening round of 72 ensured that the Seward Trophy would be his in 2018. His nett 68 handed him the title as he was 2 shots clear of Elliott Williamson and Tom Kelly, however he wasn’t done just yet.

Harry was also competing in the Amateur Championship and after his opening round of 72 left him 3 shots behind the eventual winner Damon Coulson. Harry began his afternoon round fast as he soon found himself 2 under after 8 holes. Unfortunately, Harry couldn’t hold on to his fast start, but the 2018 Seward Trophy winner finished a respectable 5th place in a competition that features York’s best golfer!

WELL DONE DAMON & HARRY!
