A full field of 144 players competed in the first Cross Trophy event of 2026 at the excellent Oaks Golf Club - which was in remarkable condition given the amount of rain we have had recently. The course was playing tough with less than half the field scoring under par. Some excellent golf was played, with Graham Salmon and Donald Inglis (Pike Hills) scoring 47 points with 3 x 4 pointers on the back 9 (2 birdies from Salmon). Neil Smith and Chris Neenan (Fulford) made 6 birdies and an eagle to finish second with 44 points. Gary Scott and David Peden (Forest of Galtres) just pipped Rob Smith and Stuart Davison (Pike Hills) on an impressive back 6 countback 16 to 15 ! Duncan Bruce and Dave Fogg had the best of the 42's to claim 5th place and a place in the end of season Glencor Golf Holidays prize draw. In the Cross Trophy Pike Hills jumped to 3rd after a fantastic 90 points, with Fulford also rising 2 places. Heworth cut Forest Park's lead at the top by 2 points with Tadcaster losing ground to drop to 5th place. The top 5 can all still win the league with 5 events still to be played and home advantage to come for both Tadcaster (next week) and Pike Hills for the last fixture of the season.
A huge thanks to all at The Oaks for their support - starters and scorers, greens team and bar / catering staff - superb hospitality and many positive comments about the course and overall set up !
